Danish theme park Tivoli Gardens has revealed its most ambitious architectural and placemaking investment to date, with two new rides opening soon.

The comprehensive transformation of the park's former Asian-inspired district represents the largest themed development ever undertaken in its nearly 200-year history.

Opening this August in the heart of Copenhagen, the new themed area will be named Hikari, which translates to "light" in Japanese. Spanning more than 2,000 square metres (21,500 square feet), the project is a significant investment.

With a budget of 18 million euros, this project highlights Nigloland's ongoing ambition to grow as a major European theme park destination. Development on the attraction began back in 2022, with Nigloland's internal creative and technical teams designing the original concept and custom styling the trains themselves.

German family theme park Freizeitpark Plohn has officially opened its highly anticipated new attraction, Dønnervind.

Developed with the famous German ride manufacturer Mack Rides, Dønnervind represents a major milestone for the park. The attraction combines the high-speed thrills of a modern roller coaster, with the classic fun of a water ride, introducing multiple launch sections that propel the boats forward rather than relying on a traditional lift hill.

A Grand Opening at Hunderfossen has marked the official inauguration of Rally Flåklypa, a brand-new family dark ride.

The attraction was unveiled by park management alongside international and regional press, visitors, and the mayors of Lillehammer and Alvdal. Alvdal holds special significance as the birth village of author Kjell Aukrust and as the original inspiration for the Flåklypa universe.

During the event, the star attraction of both the new dark ride and the recent animated film was revealed: a full-sized, 7-metre long model of the iconic Il Tempo Gigante car. Guests attending the soft opening expressed immense enthusiasm, noting the inclusion of beloved props and familiar elements from the films throughout the preshow and the ride itself.
